The Student Guide to Writing: Playwriting was the first in a new series of competitions designed to share the best creative writing training with students and teachers at schools, colleges, Universities and elsewhere across the UK.

The project was run by the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins, the Bush Theatre,  Oberon Books, and Writers at Work Productions.

The Student Guide to Writing: Playwriting ran from January – March 2016, offering students a unique chance to learn playwriting from the industry leaders in the UK and for the winners to have their work performed.

The lesson plans can be used by teachers in class at schools and Universities to teach playwriting, helping students build up a play week by week whilst learning key playwriting skills.

Alternatively, if you are a student at a school, college, University or elsewhere in the UK, you can follow the lesson plans on your own to learn playwriting skills from the leaders in the industry in the UK and to create your own play.

5 student winners were selected at the end of the project, who had the opportunity to contribute to a play inspired by a special brief to be performed and published by Oberon Books.

The competition was open to students of all ages and levels at schools, college, universities and elsewhere across the UK (including school, undergraduate and postgraduate level).
