The lesson plans

This competition is now over and the book containing the lesson plans and the winning students work will be published in 2017.

Lesson Plans were released from January 18th to February 15th to help you develop your play and provide access to the leading training coming out of the industry.

Lesson plans can be used in classes or followed individually and used however is most helpful for you to develop your play.

Lesson Plans are:

 

January 18th (week one):

Lesson Plan One: Getting Starting by Rob Drummer, Associate Dramaturg at the Bush Theatre

Lesson Plan Two: Ideas by Ola Animashawun, founder of the Royal Court Theatre’s young writers programme

 

January 25th (week two):

Lesson Plan Three: Structure by John Yorke, author of the bestselling book on storytelling Into the Woods

Lesson Plan Four: Scenes by Jennifer Tuckett, Course Leader of the new MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins

 

February 1st (week three):

Lesson Plan Five: Characterisation by Tom Holloway, playwright and mentor from the Bush Theatre

Lesson Plan Six: Dialogue by Fin Kennedy, founder of Schoolwrights and Artistic Director of Tamasha Theatre Company

 

February 8th (week four):

Lesson Plan Seven: Theatricality by Steve Winter, co-founder of the Old Vic New Voices 24 Hour Plays and TS Eliot US/UK Exchange and Director of the Kevin Spacey Foundation

Lesson Plan Eight: Rewriting by Caroline Jester, author of “Playwriting Across the Curriculum” and former Dramaturg at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre

 

February 15th (week five):

Lesson Plan Nine: Staging Your Work by Caroline Horton, writer, performer, director and mentor from the Bush Theatre

Lesson Plan Ten: Final Advice by Lucy Kerbel, founder and Director of Tonic Theatre

 

Lesson plans were released each Monday until February 15th and will be published by Oberon Books to help you build up your play or your classes’ plays step by step. Please see “Lesson Plan writers” for information on who the lesson plan writers are, who have all led the way in the industry, and we hope it is helpful to provide access to these step by step lesson plan writers for the first time.
